Joel Chandler’s 17 points and eight rebounds paced the George Mason High School boys varsity basketball team over Falls Church High School, 59-37, in the opening round of the Pohanka Chantilly Classic holiday tournament last Thursday, Dec. 28.
The George Mason High School girls’ varsity basketball team suffered their first loss of the year on Thursday, falling on the road in a non-district match-up with AA Briar Woods High School, 45-37.
Briar Woods battled to the best of its abilities, rallying from eight points down on the road at halftime, but the Mustangs would not be denied their second win of the season, claiming the contest in overtime, 70-67.
